"Tēnā koutou katoa.  Ko Caroline Jewkes tōku ingoa.  I am excited to join the CTMES team as Executive Director.  I live in Hamilton, close to my Mum, and my brother, sister-in-law, niece and nephews. Keeping me company at home is my dog, Bosley. I am part of The Salvation Army here in Hamilton and have previously worked at Booth College of Mission as the director of in-service training.  Prior to this I worked at Wintec in the Early Childhood Education section.

Whāia te mātauranga hei oranga mō koutou. Seek after learning for the sake of your well-being.

I have been greatly enriched by my studies in theology and ministry education. I began my theological study at Booth College of Mission, then completed a Graduate Diploma and Masters in Theology through Laidlaw (with a course at Carey thrown in). I recently submitted my PhD thesis in theology through the University of Otago, examining what enables Pākehā to engage in Tiriti-based practice within The Salvation Army.  So, in addition to professional skills, I bring lived experience and a passion for the sector to my new role, supporting CTMES members as you deliver excellent Christian tertiary education.  I look forward to meeting you all."

The post about appointing a new executive director shows how leadership changes can shape the future direction of an organization and bring fresh energy to important work. It reminded me of student clubs in college where new leaders often changed how teams communicated and solved problems. During one stressful exam period, I felt overloaded with deadlines and searched for take my exam online for me while trying to balance classes and responsibilities together. It made me realize how pressure can affect decision-making during busy academic times.
